The photographer behind the camera…

My name is Colin Schultz

I am a photographer, journalist, and creative based in the Boston and Providence area. I chose to further my education at Johnson and Wales University, studying Media and Production. I started photography in early high school but got more serious about it in 2020. When covid hit and everything shut down, I explored the quiet world. I drove all over New England, taking photos of abandoned buildings and the Boston skyline.

Being bullied through middle and high school pushed me to leave my small town and explore around me. This led me to meet and create connections with people outside of my comfort zone. My whole life has pushed me to expand what I find safe and comfortable. We, as humans, do not grow unless we are forced to grow.

When college hit, I fell deeper into my comfort zone and was challenged with anxiety and depression. I had weeks on end of me anxious to leave my room or house. Overcoming my mental challenges and addictions made me more resilient, self-disciplined, and motivated than ever. These past few years have thrown many curve balls, but I have picked myself back up each time and become myself again. I now look forward to traveling the world, capturing many images others can not see, and to meet different cultures different than my own.

While exploring through my teenage years, I developed a massive passion for helping people less fortunate than me. One of my goals is to make documentaries and dive into photo journalism to raise awareness of things that aren't touched on in everyday media. One of these topics would be homelessness and poverty in different countries and what goes on behind the scenes.
